Here we will, as a class, maintain an evolving definition of what we believe learning to be.
Week 3:
Learning is a process. It is complex, and occurs differently for different people. It is iterative in nature, and both personal and social in its construction. It is the process through which an individual or group's understanding changes. It is usefull/utilitarian.
Week 4:
Active, goal-direct process that occurs between stimulus and response and is concerned with resolving cognitive conflict (ZPD). Socio-cultural aspects to learning environments that must be considered in addition to the individual aspects. It's only a meaningful/practical stimulus if there is some type of response (instructional activities must be meaningful to the learners).
Week 7:
- Mental processes of the active individual.
- Learning is individual and social.
- Language is a component of social interactions
- Participation in cultural practices
